Gee, it's seems forever since I've blogged but I've had a sick little Rinny and blogging has been the furtherest from my mind as I've taken care of him. It's been a very emotional few days for the muse as Rinny's serious coughing condition has brought back so many memories of sitting and fussing over Adam all hours of the day and night just wanting to anything that might bring a second's relief and comfort .Not being able to breathe is a terribly frightening thing even for an animal and my maternal instincts immediately kicked in and all that mattered was looking after he who I love both then and now. With no sleep for several nights I began to run out of steam this morning and Barb,God love her came to my rerscue and took Rinny to her house for a few hours so I could sleep. But Thanks be to God I think Rinny is on the mend and maybe the medications given by the vet are finally working . This has all been quite an eye-opening experience for me as I wonderedif all that deep love and caring attention had gone in hiding since Adam's passing. But I don't have to wonder anymore. It's here when I need it and as difficult as these past few days have been I am feeling very full of gratitude and very alive. Nothing was going to get in the way of bringing this dear little bundle of joy back to health and fortunately for the vet there was no mention of a dog's age and the possibility of no more to be done within reasonable and finanicial means as that would definitely not have been a pretty sight. Rinny is going to find someone loving to adopt him .I am so expecting that to happen.

A Wonderful Evening
I am so glad I attended last night's Read By The Sea event at the Decoste Center. It was an evening I will never forget. A very big crowd who adore Alistar MacLeods's writing and none of us were disappointed. Actually it was more than I could have expected. Besides getting to hear him read The Boat ,a 25 page short story in a voice that can only be Alistar ,we were also treated to a conversation between he and Sheldon Currie another awesome author after having heard some excellent toe-tapping, dancing in your chair Cape Breton fiddle music. And the oatcakes!!!!Delicious beyond words. And oatcakes are my favourites along with my adored shortbread. I was happy to be able to have Alistar autograph two books for me before I headed home along the Sunrise Trail. Great to see a group from Pugwash attending.
The drive to Pictou was beautiful with the sun setting behind me and the moon in front .Still a good number of cottagers along the ST.Dropped into Fables on the way home for the last set of some blues that was the icing on the cake for a perfect night. It's amazing how many blues acts come to Fables. It's definitely a happening place for music lovers . The soft leatherlike chairs and stained glass windows had me hooked from night one. A gorgeous spot to gather.
Back to shorts and a tank top again today.Yay!! Oh yes,it's the first day of fall. Are the trees late in starting to change color? I never noticed a thing on the drive yesterday. My burning bush has done it's thing and is looking very autumnish. And there's two precious little yellow rose buds ready to open soon.
I am going to go now and light a candle to celebrate the beginning of fall . Take every opportunity you can to celebrate any and everything. It can make a difference in our mood . Cheers for today.

Feeling Igor's Touch
The dogs and I have just returned from a very invigorating and senses filled stroll on the beach. And there's no doubt about it, Igor is having a big influence on the ocean and the wind. Wow ,the whitecaps are awesome and the pounding of the surf thunderous. Compliments of Igor ,I came home with a good sized handful of seaglass and brown was the color of the day. Will soon need another bowl to hold the glass I find from now until my hands get too cold picking it up.Aren't the gulls just a squawking too? The shadows they formed while flying over us made one think they were much larger than they really are.I'm grateful for how my body so seldom minds the coolness now as I was able to feel very comfortable meandering the shore in bare arms and feet. Just a t-shirt and shorts it felt good in spite of the seawinds .Mr.Sun is so powerful .As Oreo sits on my lap as I typeI can feel the warmth of his furry body as it was heated by the sun. Very quiet at the beach today. Met a couple on our way back to the trail .They're usually the last ones to head out in the fall. My Saskatchewan friends will fly home next week ,followed by other friends from Ontario, We've decided to gather this weekend for an early Thanksgiving meal since we won't be together later on .Looking forward to that for sure. And all I have to do is roast the big bird !
I recalled today as I was doing a gigantic wash for the first time with the little washerspin machine neighbors up the road gave to me when they got something bigger, something a friend of mine shared with me a while back and at the time I sort of pooh-poohed it in my mind but today for some reason I got it and understood fully what he was meaning. He had remarked how much better he felt about doing something for himself if he had been able to see his productivity from the day .My first reaction to this was that he was being too hard on himself and nurturing and caring for ourselves should not have to be earned .But today as I filled, washed, rinsed.spun and drained so many times I lost count and then saw the clothesline filled to capacity with not even enough room to hang a thong ,I felt that feeling of having accomplished something really worthwhile and the two hours I spent doing this hopefully big last wash of the season was saying go and have a wonderful time tonight in Pictou listening to Alistar MacLeod do readings from some of his excellent books. Strange how things just come out of the blue like that and we see something from a whole different angle. But I love it when I have those aha moments and I see things in a new way. I don't like being stuck in my mind unless it's a very deep personal belief.
So it is now time to clean myself up and get a little doodied up to head off to this special event .Not all that many occasions to dress up much anymore and I take every opportuinty to do so. I like feeling like a lady from time to time . Cheers World ! The Muse

Persistence Pays Off
I can't believe it ! I found the problem myself just by accident. Now I should be able to allow you all to enter my blog world. My fingers and anything else I can cross are crossed.
Oreo went to the groomer's today and he's looking pretty handsome in his new Halloween scarf. I've been putting away summer things and by the feel of today it's just about time. My bare feet are freezing ! Oh my,I'm so not ready for the chill of fall to set in. I need some more swims.
Rinny (my foster dog ) is settling in just fine .I'm so hoping he will find a home soon as he needs someone to love him and he will love back bigtime . I love him so much already !
Singing tonight in Wallace .Practising for Christmas. Will seem so strange not having Morley in front of us directing but he has certainly earned some time off. Linda and Kathleen will do a great job leading us . It's good to be exercising the vocals again.
Excited about hearing Alistar MacLeod do a reading tomorrow night in Pictou and the drop in to Fables afterwards.
Laura is all moved in to her new nest .Thanks to all who helped .It's great to have friends.
Life's wonderful, isn't it?
