I am so glad I attended last night's Read By The Sea event at the Decoste Center. It was an evening I will never forget. A very big crowd who adore Alistar MacLeods's writing and none of us were disappointed. Actually it was more than I could have expected. Besides getting to hear him read The Boat ,a 25 page short story in a voice that can only be Alistar ,we were also treated to a conversation between he and Sheldon Currie another awesome author after having heard some excellent toe-tapping, dancing in your chair Cape Breton fiddle music. And the oatcakes!!!!Delicious beyond words. And oatcakes are my favourites along with my adored shortbread. I was happy to be able to have Alistar autograph two books for me before I headed home along the Sunrise Trail. Great to see a group from Pugwash attending.
The drive to Pictou was beautiful with the sun setting behind me and the moon in front .Still a good number of cottagers along the ST.Dropped into Fables on the way home for the last set of some blues that was the icing on the cake for a perfect night. It's amazing how many blues acts come to Fables. It's definitely a happening place for music lovers . The soft leatherlike chairs and stained glass windows had me hooked from night one. A gorgeous spot to gather.
Back to shorts and a tank top again today.Yay!! Oh yes,it's the first day of fall. Are the trees late in starting to change color? I never noticed a thing on the drive yesterday. My burning bush has done it's thing and is looking very autumnish. And there's two precious little yellow rose buds ready to open soon.
I am going to go now and light a candle to celebrate the beginning of fall . Take every opportunity you can to celebrate any and everything. It can make a difference in our mood . Cheers for today.
